The “Research Group for Renewable Energy Technology” analyses, optimises and develops technologies and system components that conserve electricity, heat and cooling-energy while at the same time use as much regenerative energy as possible. One of the things that the zafh.net group has done to this end is to develop and construct various small scale solar thermally-driven chillers. Projects involving the use of solar resource potential are also being conducted using photovoltaic and solar-thermal technologies as well as both combined, and these projects are then optimised for a variety of applications. In addition, intensive work is being conducted on communal energy supply systems, the use of geothermal energy, biomass and industrial waste heat, as well as the optimisation of district and local heat distribution networks.
