Working in Applied Mathematics means translating facts and problems from the real world into the language of mathematics, and using its tools to solve them. Such a task often demands creativity and imagination. Accordingly, this mathematics course focuses not on ingraining predefined methods, but instead on acquiring the skill of “mathematical thinking”.
Since problems are frequently solved using modern information technology, IT subjects are an important component of this course. Two profiles available in the bachelor/master system that lead to the solutions to all application problems: financial mathematics and industrial mathematics.
Job prospects for graduates have been good, frequently even excellent, for many years.
