Study period: 4 semesters
Target group: Graduates with a degree or Bachelor's degree in the subjects of Business Management, Management Information Systems, Infrastructure Management and other economic subjects.

Short description / Profile of the programme  <<

HFT Stuttgart offers you a practice oriented degree with the Master programme in General Management. Thereby theoretical study contents are further intensified by teaching concepts such as training, team work and planning games. A special feature of the Master programme in General Management at HFT Stuttgart is, that you complete part of your degree abroad. The co-operation partner of the Master programme in General Management is the renowned Napier Business School of Edinburgh Napier University.

Double-Degree  <<

The students of the HFT Stuttgart have the opportunity to get a second degree (Master of Science or MBA). Therefore, the students spend 9 month abroad (including the Master-Thesis as a joint project of both Universities) at the Napier Universtiy Business School in Edinburgh/Scotland (International Business Management or International Human Resource Management) or the Tatung University in Taipei/Taiwan or the University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Sha Alam/Malaysia. Further programmes are planned.

Structure of the programme <<

The generalistic approach of the programme focuses on the acquisition of broad interdisciplinary knowledge and soft skills in the first three semesters. The students can decide on an individual focus in the scope of a functional major in the fourth semester. This optimally prepares the graduates to fill management positions in an environment characterised by globalisation and internationalisation. The consideration of international aspects is reflected primarily in the

  • Teaching of specialist knowledge in an international context
  • Integration of foreign language learning and selected English lectures and seminars
  • Teaching knowledge about intercultural specialities
  • Practical project during the degree

The third semester includes the supervised international practical project, to further strengthen the practical approach of the degree. The practical phase is integrated into the curriculum in such a way that the final paper can be written in collaboration with companies. The students can decide on one out of seven elective modules offered in the scope of functional majors in the fourth semester:

  • Advanced Financial Reporting & Taxation
  • Advanced Finance
  • Advanced Controlling
  • Advanced Human Resources Management
  • Advanced Marketing and Sales
  • Advanced Logistics Management
  • Advanced Quality Management

The degree ends with the Master's examination.

Requirements <<

The degree can be started in the winter semester. Requirements for entry are

  • an above average economic sciences degree with at least a three year study period (i.e. Bachelor or equivalent degree with at least 180 ECTS credit points)
  • Proof of sufficient English language skills through a recognised language test e.g. TOEFL (min. 79 points)
  • Proof of sufficient German language skills through a recognised language test for foreign applicants (e.g. TestDaf)
  • In the second stage of the selection procedure a selection interview takes place. Expected in week 26 and 27

Prospects <<

Master's graduates are future managers. They can transfer the broad specialist knowledge they have acquired to specific questions and work on these in a structured and solution oriented manner. Key qualifications and a foreign language support specialist training. In this way the students are qualified to work in international and interdisciplinary teams. The graduates can hold positions in particular in Controlling, Marketing and HR as well as in Purchasing, Logistics and Sales. The Master of Arts degree from HFT Stuttgart makes you eligible for a doctorate and enables entries into higher professions in public administration.

Cooperation partners of the Master programme General Management are the Business School of the Edinburgh Napier University, the Tatung University in Taipei/Taiwan and the Universtiy Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Sha Alam/Malaysia.

Accreditation <<

The programme was successfully accredited by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). In addition the field of study of Business Management also has a certified QM system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001.
