International prospective students

Please note that from the winter semester 2017/18 onwards, probably tuition fees (1.500 € per semester) are raised for international students. International prospective students must have their eligibility confirmed by Studienkolleg Konstanz (Brauneggerstraße 55, 78462 Konstanz).

The certificate of eligibility issued by Studienkolleg Konstanz must be presented to HFT Stuttgart along with a university entrance certificate gained in the student’s home country and a certified German translation thereof.

International prospective students whose mother tongue is not German and who did not gain their university entrance certificate in Germany are also required to provide evidence of German language skills. This is a prerequisite for admission and enrolment.

Evidence of German language skills is accepted in the following forms:

  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has passed the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerberinnen und -bewerber” (DSH-2 or DSH-3).
  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has passed the “Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache” (TestDaF); the prospective student must achieve Level 4 or higher in all four sections of the test.
  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has passed the “Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz”; the prospective student must achieve Level II or higher.
  • Certificate confirming the holder has passed the “Prüfung zur Feststellung der Eignung ausländischer Studienbewerberinnen und -bewerber” (“Feststellungsprüfung Deutsch”).
  • Evidence of German language skills recognized within the framework of bilateral agreements or other agreements concluded by the KMK (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs) or HRK (German Rectors’ Conference) in connection with the certified level of language aptitude required in order to gain admission to a German university.
  • Certificates confirming the prospective student has passed the Goethe Institute’s “Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom”, “Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom” and “Zentralen Oberstufenprüfung” (ZOP).
  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has passed the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung II” set by SDI München.
  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has passed the “telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule”
  • Certificate confirming the prospective student has gained a degree in German Studies/German Language and Literature at a university outside of Germany

Prospective students who are either i) German nationals but hold a university entrance certificate gained in another country or ii) whose university entrance certificates are only valid in specific federal states within Germany must present a certificate confirming the equivalence of their previous education with the requisite university entrance qualification. The certificate is to include a calculation of their average grade in accordance with the German grading system. The certificate is to be applied for at – and issued by – Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart, Abt. Schule und Bildung, Breitscheidstraße 42, 70176 Stuttgart, Germany.

The certificate is to be presented along with the prospective student’s university entrance certificate. Certificates which are not in German are to be presented as a photocopy attached to a certified German translation.
