Re-enrolment occurs upon payment of your contribution for the forthcoming semester. That semester contribution is the sum of the Student Services contribution (“Studierendenwerksbeitrag”), the administrative contribution (“Verwaltungskostenbeitrag”) and the Student Union contribution (“Beitrag zur verfassten Studierendenschaft”). A semester contribution is due for each semester you spend enrolled at HFT Stuttgart. This includes semesters during which you take a leave of absence, study abroad or are away on an internship.

What happens if I
forget to re-enrol?
You will receive a payment reminder from the university specifying an extended deadline for re-enrolment. The reminder will include an additional late payment charge of €16.00. If you fail to pay your semester contribution (including the late payment charge) by the extended deadline, you will be taken off the university’s register of enrolled students (“exmatrikuliert”) at the end of the semester.
When will the semester contribution be taken from my bank account? <<
The semester contribution will be taken from your account by direct debit around 14 days after you have successfully re-enrolled using the corresponding online tools.
I made a mistake when entering my bank details. Can I correct them? <<
No, unfortunately not. Please wait until you receive a payment reminder from the university, in which we will inform you how you can still successfully re-enrol .
Payment of my semester
contribution bounced because there were insufficient funds in my
bank account. What do I do now?
Additional charges will be incurred if your semester contribution cannot be debited from your bank account. You will receive a payment reminder from the university containing further information. Please wait for the letter and follow the instructions therein.
Do I need to re-enrol for semesters during which I plan to study abroad, do an internship or take a leave of absence? <<
Yes. The Student Services contribution, the administrative contribution and the Student Union contribution are also due in the case of semesters during which you opt to study abroad, do an internship or take a leave of absence.
I am due to graduate during the current semester and still have exams to take. What do I do if I don’t pass one of my exams? <<
We assume that you will successfully graduate during the current semester. Please do not re-enrol as a precaution. If you do fail an exam, please contact us without delay because you are currently blocked for re-registration.
I am due to graduate during the current semester. Can I still re-enrol for the next semester? <<
No. You will be taken off the university’s register of enrolled students (“exmatrikuliert”) at the end of the semester and can´t re-register
Under what circumstances will my Student Services contribution and/or administrative contribution be refunded to me? <<
If you are taken off the university’s register of enrolled students (“exmatrikuliert”) within one month of the start of lectures, your administrative contribution and Student Union contribution will be refunded to you. To claim a refund, please fill out the claim form “Antrag auf Rückerstattung des Semesterbeitrags” and send it to the university along with either your student ID card or evidence that your ID card is invalid (i.e. has not been validated for the next semester) without delay.
Claims for the refund of the proportion of the semester contribution taken up by the Student Services contribution must be submitted to Student Services no later than one month after the start of lectures. A link to the corresponding form – “Antrag auf Rückerstattung des Studierendenwerkbeitrags” – can again be found in the download box on the right-hand side of this page. Once your claim has been approved you will receive a refund from the university.
